Yangshuo - Day 7

The forecast today is rain ALL DAY!  This is the view from our balcony...

We booked a painting class with Mr. Song.  You used a lot of black paints and a few other dark colors and diluted them with water for shading.

After painting, Corey and Gia went for their massages.

Caden and Lily and I hung out in the restaurant listening to the rain and enjoying lunch.

Driving after the massive rains was fun!

After lunch, we grabbed umbrellas and headed to the markets to begin our cooking class.

We left as they were about to behead a chicken '_'

We piled back in the van with the other student, a young woman from Sweden, and headed to the cooking school closer to our hotel.

We each had our own cooking station to make 5 courses of an authentic Chinese meal in a makeshift outdoor kitchen, while sipping green tea, of course.  We each mastered our own large butcher knife for dicing veggies.

We received detailed instructions for each course and then made then ourselves.

Our first course were egg dumplings.

Enjoying our first course alfresco.

Other courses included eggplant and cabbage, steamed chicken, and a spicy pork.  After each course we set it aside until all were complete.

These guys did an amazing job!

After lunch we began our walk home...

We strolled by the lotus flower farms behind out hotel and watched fishermen set their traps - in the muddy ponds - without shoes.
