Kalim Beach, Thailand - Day 15

I had am amazing long run today.  While hot, not as hot as China and the humidity was only the 80's (crazy to say that).  I passed a Buddhist Mon, on my way into town, and ran by a temple wafting with incense and the sound of chanting floating through the air.  It was surreal.

The wiring throughout Phuket s dizzying.  There are many alters and photos of the Tahi King about.

FRESH fish market

Once back, we were treated to an amazing breakfast of bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes, juices, fresh fruits, and a "Thai Breakfast" of Kai Grata - Thai styled eggs served in a pan with sweet sausage and minced pork.

Coconut milk and rice flour wrapped in banana leaves with shredded coconut in the middle
A relaxing day of the ocean, pool, coconut hunting (and cracking) and dizzying number of hermit crabs.

Once cracked open, the coconut was like a sponge, so none was tasted. It fueled the quest :)  The kids ventured around the rocks to the other beach.

 Wave derby.  The waves won!

Massages were scheduled for all 10 of us at noon.  This was a full contact massage that involved chiropractic precision while being straddled.

A little Uno gambling while these girls waited for the next round of massages
This is bit like a reality TV show :)

Enjoying a cocktail post-massage.  Ahhhhh......

(or two?)

Around 4 we decided to walk into Patong Beach.  A bit of a trick walk with many cars and scooters parked on the only sidewalk.  Once there we visited a pharmacy for a second opinion on these weird hives Corey broke out with.  The welts started in the morning, and intensified again after lunch.  Great to have nurse Alicia with us to calm anxiety and provide a variety of treatments, but not knowing the cause is frustrating.

Once in town, the kids all had rolled ice creams.  We took a taxi back '_'

Once back, we did a little swimming and then had dinner.  Dinner was amazing once again!

Some of us got carried away with the rice with coconut milk.  The mango served to accompany the rice was devoured quickly, and to the chagrin of my stomach for hours and hours afterwards, I couldn't let the rice go to waste '_'

The menu....

After dinner tried the "Durian Fruit Challenge"  The fruit is notoriously smelly, but actually tastes pretty good if you can get past the small!

FYI - this fruit smelled so bad, even after being placed at the other end of the house under Saran-Wrap, Caden put bug spray under his nostrils to help him not smell it.  I eventually moved it outside.

The kids spent the rest of the evening and well into the night hunting hermit crabs.
