El Salvador - Day 5

The winds were strong all night and we awoke to a rough lake with winds blowing from all directions.  I captured a photo at 5am when I thought about and running, and then went back to bed :)

We were all up by 8 and decided today would be a good day to do the Santa Ana volcano hike.  We rushed to head out the door and then found out it was closed due to the strong winds, so we lounged about a bit in the sun.  Sadly we all realized later in the day that the sunblock we bought from a local vendor, while smelling great, seemed to promote sunburns rather than prevent them. We all look like lobsters.   But the photos beforehand were super cute!

With the big waves we decided today was the day for jet skiing.  Corey found a place just up the road that was half the price, so we ventured out.  It did not disappoint.  Corey had his own, Lily drove Gia, and Caden and I took turns driving.  It was a blast!  With the waves we were getting some serious air.

Followed by drink after on one of the many platforms of decks you can sit on, none of which have railings.  Wouldn't want to have too many mojitos here!

Unfortunately Caden came down with a stomach bug so the girls and I ventured out to the New Years party on our own.

The vehicle that picked us up was a gator!  It was funny, fun, and chilly!

The dinner was interesting!  Fun to be a part of a celebration with locals.  We did a little dancing, had dinner - which they kindly served us 30 minutes early (at 9:30 instead of 10!) - and then we returned home in a minivan.  Thankfully Caden was doing a bit better by the time we got home.  And now we are all wondering who will be next? 🫤
