We packed up and headed to one of the brunch spots Andrea recommended - Canegue. It did not disappoint! We all agreed it was our best meal yet. You ordered either "salty" or "sweet" - so we ordered 3 of each to ensure we were covered :) We started on the rooftop deck, then moved to the shade. While we waited for the food the kids enjoyed the beach.
The haul from the beach combing
Our drive to Lake Coatepeque was just under 3 hours through narrow and windy roads. We started off behind a bus, then encountered a closed road. It was harrowing in our stick shift. Corey managed it well, while Lily and I kept the entertainment at high levels with dancing, karaoke, and air-instruments. And yes, we are available for hire.
Hotel Cardedeu is gorgeous! We started with drinks while we waited for our room to be ready, then snacks and swimming. Looking forward to exploring the lake tomorrow!
Not sure why there is a large chair, but it works!
We walked to get papusas. Delicious! Roadside stand with one table. We squeezed in with a collection of backpackers from England. So fun to chat with them. We treated them to dinner and they were so appreciative. For 10 of us we spent $40. They promised to pay it forward when our kids were backpacking some day :)
