Croatia - Day 11

It is about 5 degrees cooler this morning. Still in the 90s but the weather feels so much better!

On my run this morning I was scoping out the real estate. Lily has said she is planning on living in the Mediterranean so I thought maybe we should get ahead of it :)

Woke the kids up at their usual time - 11 AM! They should be right on schedule when we get home this weekend.

We had eggs with Dalmatian pancetta and mushrooms for breakfast. Lily biked to the grocery for a few items. Few things better than a short, beautiful bike ride to the little grocery store :)

We headed to Split today for a farm tour, located right next to the Kliss Fortress.

The location for Mereen - looking forward to watching Gane of Thrones now!

The farm has been in Marin's family for 14 generations. Marin told the story of his grandmother, who was born in the village just below Kliss Fortress, spent her whole life farming here, and had to change her national ID 5 times as the country changed hands

The farm setting is absolutely stunning!

Marin showed us some of the nuts and fruits he grows at the farm, and then gave us a taste of his amaretto liquor. We left with 3 bottles :)

He then treated us to some of his homemade wine and home-grown figs, raisins, and almonds. The wine before lunch led to A LOT of silly pics.

Trying to decide if profiles match at all...

Check out these baby blues!

A couple of handsome fellas.

Marin introduced us to his chickens, the cook house, and gave us a tour of the farm. He also gave us awesome lessons on cooking and smoking meat, and a biochemistry lesson on making alcohol.

Lunch was in the cute little kitchen nextdoor to the cook house. Everything on the charcuterie, including the bread and wine,.was made at the farm.

After lunch we took a tour of the far terraces to see the police trees and fruit trees. We also came across a snake-like thing that is apparently a lizard...without legs!

The surrounding village one passed through on the way to Split.
