Uganda Jan 6-7th, 2025

Just killing some time preparing for the long journey home.  It was a really awesome trip and we accomplished a lot.

Getting the red dust washed off at Murchison Falls.  Actually all it really did was create red mud.

Uganda Jan 2-5th, 2025

Some stages of the fruit drying process.  The ones that we kept round with their core in them turned out the best.  Everyone was a big fan!  Also, the stick on the upper right is sugar cane. The locals peel it with their teeth, but we used a knife.

Corey and Victoria enjoying a Nile with our good buddy Paul!

Here's most of the crew.  Some were feeling under the weather.

Happy Birthday to Derrick!

This is the nearly-done fruit dryer!  The entire thing was built from repurposed roofing and mosquito netting.  Our craftsmen do wonderful work! Our hope is to sell some of these locally.

We visited a pig farm and picked out 3 piglets to buy!  We will be moving these to a pen at the farm and raising them.  We named one of them 'ham'.

We also bought 2 goats! Names are to be determined.

The black goat thought he was being presented with an opportunity, if you get my meaning.  We didn't want to bring the white one to the farm pregnant so the activity was quickly curtailed.

Amazingly, the satellite TV at the St B. Restaurant provided us with access to the ND vs. UGA quarterfinal football game!  It was one of those ND Moments we won't forget!  ND 23 GA 10, January 2, 2025.

This was a very special moment for the Angst family, with Lily having recently been accepted at Notre Dame!  It is a dream come true!

Momma Molly and Momma Wendy made the long trek up Mt. Kalongo...and they barely look winded!

This is a really clever game that Wendy's students created.  It helps the St. Bakhita students better understand business concepts!

Uganda, Dec 31 - Jan 1, 2025

The roof of the school had been leaking so it was being replaced while we were there.  This gave us the opportunity to salvage some of the wood to build a fruit dryer!

Corey had built an MVP (Minimum Viable Product), which is the most basic form of a product, of the fruit dryer as a way to gather important information about the feasibility of drying fruit.  In the MVP below, this was made from a plastic storage bin that he chose because it fit into a large suitcase.  It also gave him an excuse to finally get rid of the clothes that were packed in it from the last time we moved in 2007.  He bought window screen kits and put two layered screens in the bin so 2 layers of fruit could be dried at the same time. It worked great with pineapple!

I just though this picture was so cute.

He's back.  This little frog/toad shows up every time we are in Uganda.  This little fella was just hanging out in Wendy's toilet at the Green Oasis.

This is jack fruit.  They dried it in the large dryer after we left and said it turned out great.

Henry the Goat...who continues to thrive and build his kingdom.  He has 'kids' running all over Kalongo now.

The Angsters 'enjoying' some fresh jackfruit.  It is not a taste we are accustomed to and the texture is odd, but it is ok.

We celebrated the New Year with old and new friends!
